Dog Walkin'
Submitted by lara on Mon, 11/17/2008 - 15:01.Now that Luca is 16 months, he's walking really well, and prefers to be walking rather than in the stroller, unless he's really tired. He runs after the dogs, and picks up all sorts of things on the ground, which usually make it into his mouth. Luckily, the weather is awesome (except for the massive 3 day wildfire, raining ash and carbon monoxide), so we can walk to the dog off leash Douglas Preserve, and to the beach.
Full Moon Twilight
Submitted by lara on Wed, 11/12/2008 - 02:44.Beautiful evenings here in Santa Barbara. It is getting colder, mornings are at 46 degrees, but days usually reach the 70s in the sun. The water is so temping to Luca, but is very cold for him. The beach is great though, so much to explore, and so much space for the dogs to run. So much amazing beauty here.
Ojai & Fog
Submitted by erik-hedin on Tue, 10/28/2008 - 04:17.Well after a beautiful sunny weekend the fog is back. Lara did a yoga workshop up in Ojai for most of the weekend so it was just Luca and I. We had a great time together playing and exploring. At the beach he wants to just jump in water and play. At 60 degrees though the blue lips come too fast. It is amazing how fast Luca is growing & learning.

Settling in, Luca's Molars, Diesel's endless energy
Submitted by erik-hedin on Mon, 10/13/2008 - 13:10.Week two down here was a good one. The weather was awesome and things are starting to feel a lot more comfortable. Luca has a huge amount of teeth coming in which is not too much fun especially for him. Lara found some natural teething tablets with camonmile which helps mellow him out. He is so cute and we are so greatful that he has come in to our lives.
The mornings are so beautiful. Lara and I both get on the jogging path most days. Somedays I have been taking the dogs and Luca running as a pack. We sure get a lot of smiles from other people as we run along the path with Luca in his usual captains position standing up in the stroller. He has become very vocal and will talk his little language the whole time while pointing to airplanes, boats and cars.
Diesel I think has really hit his adolescent peak. He has endless energy and has been bouncing off the walls. I think we still have a couple of years before he mellows out enough to be a normal dog.

Palo Alto & Marin in route to Santa Barbara
Submitted by erik-hedin on Tue, 10/07/2008 - 20:29.We had a wonderful stop in Marin and Palo Alto on our way to Santa Barbara. Too short to see all of our friends and family. Some of the highlights were seeing the Maltese Falcon sail in to the bay, going mountain biking at China Camp, eating a lamb feast at Andy and Peter's and seeing the new NoXcuses fitness space.

Seattle Zoo
Submitted by lara on Tue, 09/23/2008 - 14:24.We had a great day at the zoo, with Lisa, Bailey and Maisey. Luca liked the tractor, a little carrot house he could play in. Im not sure how many animals he was really aware of, but I know he saw the goats, flamingos, jaguar and the gorillas. Luca got a hold of the camera and smudged the lense, whic is why some of the photos have a blurry spot.
